Wiseguy Web Design¹

Are you looking for a freelance web designer with great design skills as well as the ability to integrate the latest technologies? With over 5 years of commercial digital design experience, I have worked on a multitude of projects for clients ranging from sole-traders to international blue-chip corporations.

As well as being a designer I also programme in a variety of languages, have great Flash skills and have developed large websites, content management systems, viral campaigns, Online applications, presentations and CD-ROMs amongst others. Accessibility and W3C compliance is of the upmost importance in all projects.

As we enter Web 2.0 I think it is a great oppurtunity for businesses to explore the benefits of developing Online communities and user focussed sites, a field in which I specialise and offer consultation on.

Another exciting field I work in is the streaming of digital media on the Internet. I have designed and developed large commercial solutions for some of the biggest e-tailers and e-publishers in the UK.

Client: Various

URL: n/a | Role: Designer and developer - freelance and for The Pixel

I have developed a wide range of flash viral games including many for Play.com and the most succesful game was for Sonic Heroes (Sega) which recieved over 500,000 plays.

If you are interested in developing a Flash viral game, then please get in touch as there are many ways to approach them.

Client: Funkytie

URL: http://www.funkytie.com | Role: Designer and developer - freelance

Funkytie.com is a new web business based in Holland specialising in their own-brand designer ties for business men. From the outset we worked closely together to create a design and brand that matches their needs and sits FunkyTie into their target market.

The main requirement of the site was obviously an easy to use e-commerce system and sophisticated backend to the shop, but also it needed a sleek design that still allows search engines to spider the site correctly. I also now consult on the Online marketing from Bristol.

Client: The.Pixel

URL: http://www.thepixel.co.uk | Role: Designer and developer (The.Pixel)

As Creative Manager at The.Pixel in Bristol I was asked to design and build a website in Flash that captured the diversity of the skills of the company, and to maintain an element of fun.

The site was built using Adobe Flash and is integrated with a database and XML feeds. It was one of the first sites on the Internet to include a Flash Podcast player and also includes streaming video, games, news and various experiments with Flash + more.

Client: Eddie Lawrence Photography

As a developer Eddie came to me looking for a Content Managed photography website and was quite specific about his target market. After initial consultation and finalising design the project was pretty quick. We opted for a XHTML and CSS website and the site is run by a custom built Content Management System.

Client: Adam Brown Photography

URL: http://www.adambrownphotography.co.uk | Role: Designer and developer - freelance

After the initial consultation with Adam it was quite clear that he was after a site that could reflect the boldness of his work and we decided that we could get the best results using Adobe Flash and XML to populate the website.

Client: Nigel Riches Photography

URL: http://www.nigelriches.co.uk | Role: Designer and developer - freelance

This is the second site design and build that I have done for Nigel as after a few years he needed more interactivity in the site. So the obvious choice was change the site from its' old HTML format and create a dynamically-driven Flash website. There is also a basic backend system on the web that allows him to view archives of the images that have been on the site.

Client: Total Video Games

URL: http://www.totalvideogames.com | Role: Lead Designer and developer (The.Pixel)

Bristol based, TVG has been running for over 9 years and is one of the largest Online games magazines in Europe. My task as part of The.Pixel and TVG Media was to redesign and rebuild the site in order to reach a larger audience.

After 9 months of work and extensive search engine optimisation, the new site was launched and within a year traffic had gone from 100,000 users per month to 600,000.

Client: Joytech

URL: http://www.joytechstore.net | Role: Lead Designer and developer (The.Pixel)

After years of working with Joytech, one of the world's largest games peripherals companies, I designed their Online store and collaborated on the implemenation of the fulfilment structure.

This was just one section of the digital work that I have done for Joytech and I will add more examples here soon.

Client: MySport

URL: http://www.mysport.uk.com | Role: Developer - freelance

MySport is a site concieved by a group of talented marketing professionals and sports agents in London. The aim of the site is to utilise affiliation programs to generate income for a users favourite sports club and charity.

Other additions to this site include an e-commerce package, an auction facility, customised RSS feeds and a recruitment section. All of this is controlled from a content management system and is valid XHTML and CSS.

Client: Bath Festivals

URL: http://www.bathlitfest.org.uk | Role: Lead Designer and developer (Pixillion)

This site was developed whilst working at Pixillion in Bristol. Bath Festivals needed a system to allow multiple writers to contribute to the website, but with editorial control over the final content. They also required a very flexible system to allow them to add and remove articles as when required.

There are also some added goodies such as the Google Maps integration, Flash elements, a protected press area as well as being written in fully compliant XHTML and CSS.
